Antoine Pitts Is Seeing His Stock Rise
By Kirven Lang
Alabama has become a sleeper state for basketball prospects but more so a late bloomer of sorts. Most of the kids in the state don't blossom until later in their high school careers and that shows a good sign of upside. So it's safe to say, this is a reason why Auburn senior forward Antoine Pitts has flown under the radar.
At 6-foot-7 with a college ready physique, most question why Pitts is flying under the radar the way he is. That all has changed recently in the past few days when his high school coach Chris Brandt posted a mid season highlight of Pitts on Twitter. After the video got into the hands of college coaches with the help of several parties, Pitts has become a hot commodity.
Once the video was released, we asked Pitts who was all recruiting him. "Andrew College is my only offer." said Pitts. We simply told him that will all change here soon and it did as coaches from all levels have expressed interest. From junior colleges, division-II as well as a few division-I programs. NYIT, a division-II program out of New York, has expressed the most interest and will be ready to offer pending Pitts' transcript which won't be a problem with a 3.0 and a score of 24 on his ACT. With his good academic standing and already being a qualifier, more schools will jump into the hat. FAMU and Iona are the division-I schools that have expressed interest as well. Lawson State didn't waste any time in offering Pitts as they have produced several division-1 signees in the last few years or so.
Pitts' athelticism, motor and skill set allows him to be a factor in every game. If he's not scoring around the basket, he's stretching the floor with a three ball. When he's on the defensive end, he's blocking and altering shots around the basket. His abilities and mindset will transfer to the next level as he will be another late bloomer from the "Yellow Hammer State".
