HIGHLY RANKED GUARD HAS A LOT TO OFFEREntering her sophomore season at Blount High School in Eight Mile, Alabama, point guard Cierra Johnson has already made a mark in her school. Ok lets not be modest, Johnson has made noise throughout the entire state. Turning heads with highlight plays and pleasing the crowd, we've grown to love one of the most exciting players in Alabama. Male or female, Johnson is the crowd "pleaser" in any venue no matter who is playing.
Cierra's unselfish play has helped her teammates get better as they have gotten used to the "no looks" and rocket passes that usually come their way. Even though they may not finish every play, that doesn't stop the lead guard from making the right play and getting her teammates involved. Johnson's stat line was triple-double esque her first year of high school, and could have easily had a double-double average in points and assist. Statistics don't define her as she will tell you she just loves the game but her play has led her to some big time recognition. Her recruitment is one to show for holding an offer from Alabama while Auburn, Baylor, Florida St, LSU, Tennessee and Texas A&M are heavily involved as they call her high school more often than none. Texas A&M has already made a school visit during her frosh year, while Baylor plans to make a visit during September. Johnson's team was not one to reckon with as her Blount Leopards made it to the 6A state championship game losing to the Hoover Bucs who featured three division prospects including top 50 player Marques Webb (Vanderbilt). It was a tough back and forth battle between the two as the Leopards took the lead going into the half eventually losing a nail biter. Johnson isn't the only division one prospect on her team though, 2014 UAB commit Whytney Singleton is a great talent as well sharing the backcourt. Currently ranked as our #1 player in the 2016 class when we launch them soon, Johnson is undoubtedly a top 25 national talent. Her skill set has improved a lot since last season along with her athleticism in which everyone wondered if it was even possible for her to improve because of her success.
