deontaye Buskey & Jon Brown Are Off The Board
By Kirven Lang
Charleston Southern got a verbal commitment from Daphne High School point guard Deontaye Buskey over the weekend during his official visit. Buskey chose Charleston Southern over Stetson and interest from other mid major programs.
Buskey is a strong athletic lead guard who can play above the rim with his long wing span and explosion. He has really worked on his physique and uses his body to get into the lane and finish either at the rim or with a mid range pull up when he's not dropping off passes to teammates. He was always one of the more talented kids in the gulf coast Alabama area playing under South Alabama Hall of Fame point guard Cedric Yelding.
Buskey played in the backcourt with recent Murray State commit Tevin Brown on the circuit with CP25 SE Elite-FBC and PCBC. Like Brown, Buskey entered the travel season with no offers before picking up his first offer from Stetson in June during their elite camp. Charleston Southern offered during July after watching Buskey have some consistent performances.
Charleston Southern will definitely have to utilize Buskey as they will graduate most of thei backcourt at the lead guard spot.

Jon Brown of Helena High School gave North Alabama a huge verbal commitment on Saturday. Brown was a kid who was tabbed to be a division-I signee but Bobby Champagne has done it again.
Brown has a grown man build at 6'3" and is easily one of the most athletic kids in the state. He can also fill it up from outside while being able to get to the cup at will. He has the potential to be an elite defender especially on the division-II level.
Alcorn St was the first to offer Brown while he received interest from Austin Peay, UT-Chattanooga and UT-Martin among division-I schools. Delta St, Montevallo and West Florida among division-II programs.
Brown joins Payton Stovall who recently committed to North Alabama last week. I think its safe to say that both Stovall and Brown will possibly be starting in the backcourt together in the future while putting up some good numbers in the Gulf South Conference.
