Divine Myles Chooses Stetson
Most kids in the nation didn't hesitate on national signing day during the early period but for Divine Myles (2014 #12), the process was a lot more thought out. Myles wanted to make sure he was signing with the right program and not just one in a power conference with a big name. He didn't want to get lost in the system like a lot of kids and be a statistic of the high transfer rate therefore he made the decision to attend Stetson University next year.
With several BCS conference schools on his trail such as Auburn and Seton Hall, the Hatters got the job done and made the best impression. And with rumors circulating about Myles not being a qualifier, he ended the talk with a qualifying ACT score. Myles is now focusing on maintaining his GPA and leading his 6A #3 Blount Leopards back to the state championship where they fell in the final four to eventual champs 6A #7 Mountain Brook.
The season is early and Myles is helping lead the Leopards with a 5-1 record whose only lost comes to an out of state team in which Blount led by double digits majority of the game. He's averaging 16.8 points and 9.8 assist per game thus far, pleading his case for the states best true point guard. Myles also has several other teammates who will be signing in the late signing period.
Next season for the Stetson Hatters, Myles is looked to come in and start right away as he is the only point guard they have signed for the 2014 class and they are losing two point guards to graduation. Stetson has a freshman point guard on the team who was inherited but the new staff is bringing in kids of their own and with a steal like Myles, its hard to seem him not come in and take over the spot right away.
Divine's middle name is Miracle and that's what he looks like on the court night in and night out, a miracle sent from the heavens in the football-heavy city. The Mobile, Alabama area produces around 25 division-I prospects every year for football so when the city gets players in the area that are actually pretty good in basketball, they tend to overlook them and compare them to the past players even though time has changed. Myles has made the local citizens believers as everyone was appalled when they found out he decided to sign with Stetson. If you were to ask him about his decision, he would simply tell you " Love who loves you!"
