Monthly Roundup - September

PictureAntonio "TJ" Lang Jr Is A Hokie
With the month of September coming to a close, the state of Alabama got some excitement as several players made early commitments to their future college homes.

In recent years, Alabama hasn't had this many players give verbal commitments in the month of September since we can remember. We would love to feel that BAMAMIXTAPE is one of the reasons some of these player's recruitment has picked up so vastly since our existence but the talents of these young men with the help of their families and coaches is the key reason.

Coming into September, six players had already given verbal commitments and two of them were from the class of 2015. This is kind of a shock for Alabama but may be normal for other states as Alabama is typically flooded with football this time of the year. The NCAA open period also opened in September allowing Division-I coaches to visit recruits in home and at their respective high schools.

Commitments weren't the only thing that made a jump this month. Since the NCAA open period began, numerous Division-I programs made visits to players at their respective high schools ranging from classes 2014-2017.

Major Transfers

Two of our ranked players in 2015 transferred to out of state schools. Lamonte Turner decided to transfer to prep power Arlington Country in Florida from Sparkman HS in Harvest, Alabama. Trey Kalina also decided to transfer from Gadsden City to North Cobb Christian (GA). Making him the third player from Gadsden City to transfer this season. Jeff Garrett and Rakim Lubin were the other Gadsden City transfers as Lubin has committed to UConn.

2017 Jamal Johnson made a move to Houston, Texas only to move right back. Johnson, who is the son of former NBA player Buck Johnson, is our top ranked player in the class and will attend Sparkman for his first year of high school.
