The Class Of 2020 Has Some New Faces;
Updated Rankings
The class of 2020 started off really hot when the kids were in 8th but the sophomore slumps are starting to take effect. We don't expect it to end badly but as body's start to mature, changes in player's game start to become noticeable for the bad and good. Consistency becomes non-existent, causing a decrease in confidence for some while others are motivated to get better through their failures. With that being said, a few new faces start to emerge and some familiar ones have had some humbling experiences.

Austin Harvell has taken over the top spot in the class with his college ready physique at 6-foot-6 and muscular frame. Harvell had a really good spring playing 17U with the Nike Elite Stars and his performances turned heads as he reeled in several division-I offers including Alabama, Auburn, Kansas St, North Alabama, Ole Miss and Samford. He suffered a season ended injury early his freshman season in high school but has come back stronger than ever. At only 15 years-old, Harvell possesses the strength of a man with big time athleticism and a good stroke from three.

All the way from Australia, Jayden Stone has become a hot prospect in the class as he is the leading scorer in the Adidas Gauntlet 16U Gold Division. Stone has a complete scoring package with a dose of bounce to make him the total package when it comes to getting buckets. His handle is well enough to run the point at times which will be better for his recruitment as a 6-foot-3 combo guard. Stone currently holds offers from Iowa St, Jacksonville St and Samford while Alabama and Arkansas among others have been involved in his recruitment.
FAMILIAR FACES
Antwan Burnett has always been tabbed as the top player in the class since he was in middle school. Although things have recently changed, it doesn't negate the accomplishments Burnett has achieved in his young varsity career. The two-sport athlete, basketball and football, is a big time scorer with a college ready body and can score in bunches. He's not oozing with athleticism but can finish above the rim on the break. His lack of "verticality" is really one of the only reasons Burnett has dropped. Both Harvell and Stone are both really good leapers and takes there game to another level.
Colby Jones was on the verge of becoming the top player in the class with the big numbers he was posting early in the high school season. Jones is still talented enough to make a push for the top as we have seen improvements to his body as well as his overall game and athleticism. He is still young in age and will later learn to pick his spots on the floor where he is mos successful because he has the tools to be a good shooter and straight line driver. Right now UAB is his only offer.

WHERE WILL THEY FIT?
Kam Woods and Tommy Murr are both walking buckets and have been known to fill up the scoring column. Similar in size and stature, both Woods and Murr are hard prospects to gauge. Murr was the nations leading scoring at almost 40 points per game while Woods has had numerous 40 point games in his career. Although they have had a lot of success at a young age, it's tough to tell how their games will translate to the next level. Neither of them are oozing with athleticism but they do understand how to pick spots and generally get things done. When it comes to individual production, Murr and Woods would be 1a and 1b but quite frankly it doesn't work like that.
THE BIGS OF THE CLASS
There isn't much size in the class as far as bigs but the best two right now are Rongie Gordon and Cole Larue. Gordon recently picked up a Georgia Tech offer while Larue is a new face to the public. Both stand at 6'8 while Gordon has more of a college ready frame than Larue at the moment. There are so many similarities in their games as they can both stretch the floor with the three ball as well as put it on the floor for straight line drives. Larue is actually smoother and has a really good skill set. Neither are really bouncy right now and may not ever be. Gordon has been a household name in the state since middle school while Larue recently emerged at our Battle For The Rankings Showcase back in September. UAB was the first to offer Gordon. Larue will be a solid D2/LM prospect but could surprise some people and go higher once he tones up his body and gets stronger.
MAY BE TOO LOW
Jamel King has always been a really good shooter and now his athleticism has started to really come along. King is a for sure division-I prospect that can really stretch the floor which makes him a fit for any program. He can really knock down threes in flurries and stretch leads by himself. His shot is more from the chest right now so that adjustment will need to be made as well as put some weight onto his slender frame.
Tyler Lang was right there with Antwan Burnett growing up as they used to have numerous battles but some personal decisions and a recent injury has plagued his young career. Early on he was deemed to have the most pro potential in the class with his freakishly long wingspan and Jayson Tatum type game. Once he gets himself together and back on track, he will be one to rise for sure.
