The Sleeping Giants; Bowen, day & Pitts
By Kirven Lang
There are always late bloomers, late "growers" and guys with upside who eventually start to emerge. That has kinda been the story here in Alabama and there are three kids worthy of that tag.

Corey Bowen is a kid who has grown every year of high school and now stands at 6-foot-8. He has led Fayette County in scoring and rebounding posting crazy numbers in the first half of the season. He's averaging 28 points and 10 rebounds per game at an efficient rate. Bowen is very skilled and it comes from growing up playing the guard position. His situation is similar to that of Anthony Davis'. He has a complete skill set, can shoot the jumper off the catch or dribble, athletic and can put the ball on the floor. Bowen moves with fluidity and exudes confidence. He currently holds an offer from North Alabama who is currently division-II but will jump over to the division-I ranks joining the Atlantic Sun Conference. Several schools have reached out recently after posting the footage of his recent 38 points and 10 rebounds performance against Haleyville and division-1 prospect Logan Dye.

Trip Day is a kid who became a hot commodity after his sophomore season garnishing attention from mid to high major programs. A knee injury really set him back but now he's back in full effect and showing off the athleticism and confidence he once had. At 6-foot-7, Day plays above the rim eliminating the "White Men Can't Jump" steroetype by constantly tearing the rim down. He's a solid shooter and does a good job of finishing around the basket. Transition has become his best friend as he has the ability to knife through the defense with his improved ball handling ability. His recruitment might not get back to the point it once was but it will likely pick up and Day will more than likely end up on someone's roster after his stellar career at Glenwood Academy is over.

Antoine Pitts is a kid we featured in a more recent article and his recruitment has really taken off. Several programs from all levels have reached out and the phone has been ringing off the hook for the 6-foot-7 big man at Auburn High School. East Tennessee St, FAMU, Iona, Murray St and Northern Colorado are the division-I programs who have all expressed interest. Playing alongside Mississippi State signee Garrison Brooks has really been positive for Pitts. As we mentioned before, Pitts' athelticism, motor and skill set allows him to be a factor in every game. If he's not scoring around the basket, he's stretching the floor with a three ball. When he's on the defensive end, he's blocking and altering shots around the basket. His abilities and mindset will transfer to the next level as he will be another late bloomer from the "Yellow Hammer State".
